Metro Narcotics cracks down on the 'red zone'

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - On May 29, 2014, Agents of the Metro Narcotics Unit wrapped up a two month investigation labeled “Operation Red Zone” focused on drug distribution and violent crimes in the Desiard Street area of Monroe. The “red zone” is an area east of North 18th St to Magnolia Park bordered on the south by Desiard St and the north by Washington Street. The investigation began in an effort to dismantle an identified drug trafficking organization and to assist the detectives of the Monroe Police Department in their investigations of several violent crimes that had occurred in the same area.

As a result of the investigation, the below listed individuals were arrested:

1. Andrea Augustine DOB 11/15/1976

2. Charles Straughter DOB 06/03/1973

3. Jerome Manning DOB 11/16/1963

4. Frankie Strong DOB 06/10/1976

Their charges and photographs are included in the attached file.

As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained for the below listed individuals and are still outstanding:

1. Samuel Ceasar DOB 03/11/1993

2. Murphy Wright DOB 10/08/1981

3. Christopher Woodard DOB 10/15/1987

4. Chaddrick Dickson DOB 01/03/1976

5. Willie Cook DOB 06/26/1990

6. Prentizz Wroten DOB 08/17/1992

7. Christopher Townes DOB 09/02/1975

Their charges and photographs are included in the attached file as well.

At approximately 10:00 am this morning, five search warrants were executed in the described area, in an effort to apprehend the above individuals. Agents from Metro Narcotics were assisted by the DEA, FBI, Louisiana State Police, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Monroe Police Department, and the West Monroe Police Department. Agents seized approximately four ounces of crack cocaine (approx. street value of $11,200), two firearms and approximately $20,000 in currency.

During those compliance checks, 28 of the businesses, which consist of area restaurants, bars and convenience stores, were caught selling alcohol and tobacco products to minors.
