ULM alum named healthcare rising star

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News & ULM) - Reshema Kemps-Polanco, a 1995 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s social work program, was recently named a “Rising Star” by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA). The association is a catalyst for the professional development and leadership for women in the healthcare industry.

“I was very fortunate to receive a very prestigious award,” said Polanco. “It was a proud moment for me and my family. It is just one example of how ULM alums impact their communities and their chosen business sectors.”

According to their website, the HBA rising stars are professionals in various divisions of the healthcare industry, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advertising, public relations, medical education, and market research, among other fields.

Nominated by HBA's corporate partners, the rising stars represent various career stages and disciplines, and have demonstrated noteworthy achievements and proven attention to furthering their careers.

To qualify as a “Rising Star,” candidates must meet a set of requirements that show their involvement within the healthcare community as well the community at-large. Rising stars contribute significantly to their organization; exemplify leadership; exhibit dedication to the healthcare industry; and assist those in subordinate or peer positions.

Rising stars are honored as leaders in the healthcare industry along with other award recipients at the annual Women of the Year (WOTY) event that attracts over 2,000 industry women and men.

Kemps-Polanco is a Shreveport native and currently serves as the senior product director for CML Brand Marketing, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. She has been a leader at Novartis for more than 14 years and has demonstrated excellence in multiple roles. Her list of accomplishments includes marketing, sales, sales training, change management and talent development.
