LSP adds member to Metro Narcotics Board, moves on without Holmes

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - KNOE 8 News has learned that the Metro Narcotics board has added an Louisiana State Police trooper to the board.

The group is a conglomerate of agencies that work together to fight drugs in Ouachita Parish.

Last week, Monroe Police Chief Quentin Holmes removed three employees from the group, citing staffing concerns at the Monroe Police Department.  Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo told KNOE 8 News that they pulled out over an investigation into one of the MPD's employees.

Ellerman says that the group has moved on without Holmes because he no longer has participation in the program.  LSP has had a trooper since 2011 on the team.  The board decided to put Captain Bob Brown on the board to take Holmes' place.

Tomorrow, Gulf HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) will meet tomorrow to vote on Metro Narcotic's Plan of operation without the Monroe Police Department.  If that plan is approved, Metro Narcotics will present their new operating plan on Thursday.
