Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant this week in Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Miss Louisiana Organization is hosting its teen pageant in Monroe this week.

33 of the most beautiful, talented and intelligent teens in the state will make their way to Monroe and the beautiful campus at the University of Louisiana at Monroe on Wednesday, May 28 to compete in the 2014 Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

“We are very proud to have 33 young ladies from all across the state of Louisiana competing in the pageant this year.  They truly represent the mission of the organization, to promote healthy living, scholarship and community involvement.” stated Teen Director, Don Humble.

The pageant will hold preliminaries on Friday, May 30
th and finals on Saturday May 31st at Brown Auditorium on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The University of Louisiana at Monroe and the Miss Louisiana Organization are joining forces to produce the Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. Tickets for the preliminaries are $15 and final competition, $20. Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen 2013, Baylea Huffman from Delhi, LA will relinquish her crown at the 10th Anniversary of the Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen pageant.

On stage competition includes fitness in sportswear, talent and evening wear. Each contestant will also have a private interview with the judges. The winner will go on to compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen later this summer in Orlando. Since the Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant began in Monroe 10 years ago, over $130,000 in scholarship assistance has been made available to contestants. This year, the Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen pageant will award over $13,000 in scholarship.

The Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is part of the Miss Louisiana Organization which has a volunteer based Board of Directors that works to share the accomplishments of the 32 contestants and provide scholarships to further their education. In 2014, the Miss Louisiana Organization will make available almost $500,000 in cash and in kind tuition scholarships. And, they will provide over $50,000 in cash and awards. Miss America offers over $45 million in cash and scholarships annually, making them the number one provider of scholarships to young women in the world.

The Miss Louisiana Pageant will be held June 26-28 at the Monroe Civic Center’s W.L. “Jack” Howard Theatre. Preliminary competition will be held on Thursday and Friday with the live televised finals on Saturday, June 28th at 8 pm.
