Chennault Museum kicks off Memorial Day activities

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Chennault Museum kicked off its Memorial Day weekend with the Red, White and Blue Run. The museum is planning a weekend full of activities and on Saturday, about 350 people ran the annual 5K.

There was food and jumpers for the kids. And as always, admission to the museum is free.

Museum Director Nell Calloway said more than 450 people took part in today's activities.

"We had a fun day so that the kids could be a part (of this) because these kids need to realize too what Memorial Day is all about. And unfortunately sometimes they don't always do that," Calloway said.

The activities will continue Sunday at the American Legion Hall on Forsythe Avenue. A Memorial Day program starts at 4.

Calloway said the museum is open on Monday.
