MONROE, La (KNOE 8 News) -Mindy Jones has Stage IV melanoma, a cancer that has spread to her lungs and turned her life up side down, but she says she's a fighter and with the help of others, she's taking her life back.

"I'll be doing amino therapy treatment...now and every other week...lord will...it's working" said Jones.

Jones says with expensive medical bills and traveling back and forth for treatments, she says it's taken away time she could have spending with her kids. One group of people decided to do something about it.

"Not only is it that huge stress taken off...I've gained a whole other family here" said Jones.

That family is pilots for patients, and organization that flies patients to their medical destinations.  Jones is heading to Houston for her 11th treatment.

Jones raised two thousand dollars selling breast cancer shirts and gave back to the organization by donating that money towards their hard work.

Before waving goodbye to her friends and family, she said this is something she will never forget.

"It's just so humbling to know that there are people out there who care...truly care" said Jones.
