Monroe City School Board rejects collective bargaining measure

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe City School Board voted down a measure on Tuesday evening that could have led to collective bargaining by district employees.

The board voted 4-3 against the measure, which would have allowed district workers to vote on whether they wanted to use the collective bargaining process, when it comes to negotiating their pay.

The measure had some support from teachers' unions, but those against it say collective bargaining isn't needed, since the current policies continue to work.
