Click it or Ticket

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) -A few years ago Amy Bradley was in a horrible traffic accident.  She says if not for her seat belt, she may not be here today.

She said she could have been thrown twenty feet out of her vehicle if not for her seat belt.  She was thankful her children were not in the car with her.

Bradley said most people die in car crashes because they just ignore putting it on.  That's something she wants her children to remember.

"When you get in a might go forward and break your neck...and hit it on it's pretty important to keep your seat belt on"said Bradley.

Police throughout Louisiana are enforcing the seat belt law with the annual "Click it or Ticket" campaign and people who don't follow the law will pay a price.

The West Monroe police department states that a driver's first offense will cost drivers twenty-five dollars, second offense will go up to fifty dollars, and that will progress based on the number of violations said Sergeant Beck.

People like Bradley says the campaign doesn't affect her because she and her children always buckle up but is glad to know something is being done to decrease car crashes in Louisiana.

She say the two seconds it takes putting on your seat beat can determine life or death situations when on the road.
