Tallulah mayoral race candidates almost to the finish line

TALLULAH, La. (KNOE 8 News)- Arthur Lee and Paxton Branch have been in the Tallulah mayoral race since the first qualifications in February, three months ago.

The mayors race was set for April 5th but when Mayor Eddie Beckwith died, the race experienced some twist and turns.

Four people were added to the race in April, pushing the election back to May 3rd.

Lee and Branch are the last two candidates standing.

Lee and Branch are making their final push toward City Hall a good one, since it's the last.

The two are both confident about their campaigns, however they are prepared to work with whoever becomes the next mayor.

"I would more than willingly pledge my undying support to the other candidate if he wins," Lee said.

"You have to do what you can do for the community so it won't change for me, i will always continue to work for the betterment of Tallulah," Branch said.

In an effort to boost voter turnout both campaigns are providing rides to the polls for voters.

Early voting for the mayors race started Saturday and will end May 24th. Election Day is May 31st.
