Inmate walks off job at sheriff's substation

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies are searching for an inmate who walked away from his job at the sheriff's central substation.

Prison records show 42-year-old Joseph Pomares, of Baton Rouge, was arrested by Baton Rouge police April 4 and booked on counts of unauthorized use of an access card and illegal possession of stolen things.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks says Pomares is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds.

He was last seen at about 1 p.m. Monday.
