FARMERVILLE, La. (Union Parish Sheriff's Office & KNOE 8 News) - A man who recently moved back into the Farmerville area was arrested over the weekend for theft of utility service, theft of utility property and unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling.

Billy True Benedict, 34, of 133 Mill Drive, Farmerville, was booked Saturday into the Union Parish Detention Center. His bond was set at $7,000. Sheriff Dusty Gates said Benedict is accused of taking a Claiborne Electric utility meter from a nearby boathouse and then hooking it up at an abandoned camp without the owner’s permission.

Gates said Benedict’s father used to live in the house and when he came back to the Farmerville area he decided to move into the old camp. Claiborne Electric has not yet determined the value of the electricity used.
