Jindal calls for flags to fly at half-staff in honor of Bob Odom

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Governor Bobby Jindal has issued an Executive Order calling for the flags at all state buildings to be flown at half-staff until Friday, May 23rd in honor of Bob Odom.

Robert “Bob” Fulton Odom, Jr., died Saturday at the age of 78, after complications breathing.  

Odom was born in Haynesville in Claiborne Parish in 1935 and was first elected Commissioner of Agriculture in 1979, where he served until 2007. While Commissioner of Agriculture, he was a champion for the Louisiana agriculture community and worked tirelessly to promote the agricultural markets of Louisiana. Odom honorably served his country as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

"As an expression of respect of the citizens of the State of Louisiana for Robert “Bob” Fulton Odom, Jr. the flags of the United States and the State of Louisiana shall be flown at half staff over the State Capitol and all public buildings and institutions of the State of Louisiana until sunset on Friday, May 23, 2014."
