NTSB rules pilot error in Richwood plane crash

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A final National Transportation Safety Bureau report has been filed on a plane crash that took place in January of last year.

The crash occurred on January 24, 2013 near the Ouachita Correctional Center killing all four on board the plane.

The NTSB says the cause of the crash was the pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during a missed approach.

Dean Hart Senior of West Monroe, Max Larche of Bastrop, Don Thompson, along with the pilot Mason Mauldin of Little Rock were all killed in the crash.

An earlier report from the NTSB showed that the pilot's medical certification had lapsed, and that he should not have been flying the plane.
