Dasher considering run for 5th District Race

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Duck Commander could be headed to Washington.  Al Robertson confirmed to KNOE 8 News that Zach Dasher was considering a run for the 5th District Congressional Seat that will be open in the upcoming November elections.

Dasher, a pharmaceutical representative, is the first cousin of the Robertson family.

Al Robertson told KNOE 8 News, "Zach Dasher, our first cousin, is definitely considering running and we are all supporting him and excited about the possibility. He is a very smart, God-fearing family man who could really do well in Washington representing the people of our own fifth district. We believe his lack of political ties and history will be a great benefit to avoid the back room dealing that most people in congress seem to gravitate towards. Zach is a strict constitutionalist and believes strongly in the natural law that God created all men equal and were given their rights by Him, not men. Zach has shown tremendous leadership in our ministries at White’s Ferry Road and I think he would make a representative for our region that we would be very proud of. If he throws his hat in the ring, the Robertson’s will be out in full force to support him."

The Robertson family threw their support behind Vance McAllister, thrusting McAllister to victory in a special called election late last year.  McAllister was caught on video kissing a congressional aide in his Monroe District Office.  McAllister announced last week that he would not be running in November's election.
