Tis' the season for...mosquitoes

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement District will begin spraying operations Monday night, if weather conditions are favorable. Residents are encouraged to stay in their homes when the spray trucks are visible in their neighborhood.

The parish is divided into four quadrants, NE, NW, SW, and SE. I-20 divides south and north quadrants and the Ouachita River divides east and west quadrants. Each quadrant is further divided into zones which is the amount one spray truck can spray in an evening. There are a total of 51 zones in the parish.

Monday we will be spraying in zones SW 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 16, and 17. This area has a northern border of I-20 south/southwest to the Ouachita/Jackson Parish line and has an approximate western border of Hwys. 151, 546, and 34 east to approximately Hwy. 3033 and Lapine Road.
