Search on for escaped inmate

Posted: Updated:

ANGIE, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - The search continues for an inmate who escaped the minimum-security Rayburn Correctional Center in Washington Parish.

Warden Bobby Tanner says 52-year-old Patrick Martin, a trusty assigned to take care of the prison's horses, escaped Sunday sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tanner says the officer assigned to supervise Martin saw him earlier in the afternoon and returned about 4 p.m. to escort him back to the secure compound and realized he was not in the area.

Martin is described as about 6 feet tall, 175 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a tan complexion.

He was serving a 15-year sentence for a 2006 armed robbery and was eligible, with good time credits, for release from the prison, based in Angie, on Dec. 30, 2017.
