Group mentors young men to be better

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- Young men got together for a lesson in life and how they can make theirs better.

Marion Carraway of Lake Providence considers himself a success and says it's his job to pass that success on to young men who may not have the motivation.

Saturday, Marion and other motivational speakers and businessmen from around Monroe gathered in the Wossman High School auditorium to give these young men an alternative from the streets with D.A.D.D.Y. defeating the arrested development of disadvantaged youth. Those who attended the seminar range from 12 to 25 years old.

Marion and his team of mentors agree that it only takes one time to encourage a young man who really wants to do better.

Participants got a chance to talk with entrepreneurs who turned away from the streets and decided to make something out of nothing to provide a decent living for their families.

Marion says his team will keep in contact with the young men that attended the seminar to make sure they are staying on track for greater things.
