Election Day Ballot Breakdown

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Saturday is Election Day in eight parishes in our viewing area, here's a look at what on the ballot in each parish.

Catahoula:

--A school district tax continuation, 5.85 mills for another 10 years


LaSalle:

--Proposition 1 - Tax renewal of 10.97 mills for 10 years, used to maintain and operate courthouse

--Proposition 2 - Tax renewal of 8.77 mills for 10 years, used to build and maintain brides/roads and funds drainage projects and equipment

--Rd. District 3 Proposition 1 - Tax renewal of 5 mill levy for another 10 years, used for bridge/road construction and maintenance

--Rd. District 3 Proposition 2 - Continuation of 5.33 millage property tax for another ten years, road/bridge construction and maintenance

--Sewerage District 1 - Tax renewal of 10.02 mills for 10 years, for the costs of sewage collection and disposal


Madison:

--Mayor of Tallulah: Paxton Branch (D), Sandra Cannon-Scott (D), Arthur Lee (D), Gerald Lott, Jr. (N), John Reed (D), Adell Williams (D), Felicia Dawn Williams (D), Jann Williams-Buchanan (D)

--Tallulah Chief of Police: Buster McCoy (D), James Vaughn, Jr. (D)


Morehouse:

--Consolidated School District 12 - Tax to replace current tax with 10 mills, to be used for Beekman Charter School


Ouachita:

--Library Millage Renewal - 7.64 mills for 10 years

--Juvenile Detention Center Millage Renewal - 2.90 mills for 10 years

--East Ouachita Parish School District - Allowing the parish to incur debt and issue bonds totaling up to $25.5 million, to improve schools and build new middle school


Richland:

--Aldermen (3 to be elected) - James Brakefield (N), Terry Brown (D), William Copeland (R), Paula Cumpton (D), Debra James (D), Norman Wilson (D)

--Sales Tax Renewal Prop. 1 - 1% sales tax for bridges and roads

--Sales Tax Renewal Prop. 2 - 0.05% sales tax for drainage projects, facilities, repairs, and courthouse


Union:

--Proposition 1 - $42.5 million bond for parish schools

--Proposition 2 - 1% sales tax for parish schools

--Ward 3 Spearsville/Farmerville/Unincorporate Areas

   Proposition 1 wet/dry - would allow the sale but not the consumption of 6% APB (hard liquor)

   Proposition 2 wet/dry - would allow both the sale and consumption of 6% APB

   Proposition 3 wet/dry - would allow both the sale and consumption of 0.05% APB (beer)

   Proposition 4 wet/dry - would allow the sale but not the consumption of 0.05% APB

   Propostion 5 wet/dry - allows both to be sold at restaurants


Winn:

--Winnfield Mayor - Kiah Beville (R), Raza Ali Mughal (N)

--Council Member District 2 - Gerald Hamms (N), Michael Mattox (D)

--Council Member District 5 - Jessie Edwards (D), Jimmy Husser (N)
