LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The National Weather Service announced the final rating of Arkansas' deadly tornado as a "high end" EF-4 Wednesday night.

After surveying the areas of Vilonia and Mayflower further, NWS workers upgraded the preliminary ranking of an EF-3 to the more severe level.

The press conference announcing the change took place at the National Weather Service Office located in North Little Rock at 6:00 PM on Wednesday.

According to John Robinson with the NWS, the tornado began 5.4 miles west of Ferndale and lifted just past El Paso. Winds were estimated between 180 and 190 mph. The tornado was reportedly at its strongest in downtown Vilonia.

Robinson said a second tornado near Center Hill rated EF-2.
