WASHINGTON, D.C. – (KNOE 8 News) - House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is asking Representative Vance McAllister to still consider resigning. But, McAllister says he will fulfill his current term in office. Numerous politician on a national and state level called for the Congressman's resignation after video leaked showing McAllister kissing a woman other than his wife.

U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister (R-Swartz) released the following statement today (Tuesday) in response to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s call for resignation:

“I did meet with Leader Cantor this morning. He asked me why I would want to put myself through this for the next eight months if I’m not running for reelection. He did ask me to consider resigning, but I respectfully disagree with him and my family is behind my decision. I do not feel it’s in my constituents’ best interest to leave them without representation for the second time in less than a year. My district deserves a voice and a fair election process, not an expensive potential special election that benefits the establishment.” said McAllister.

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has told Louisiana congressman Vance McAllister he should resign. The married Republican congressman was caught on videotape kissing a married female aide.
A Cantor spokesman says the Virginia Republican met with McAllister on Tuesday and asked him to step down.
McAllister has already said he will not run for re-election and has apologized for conduct he calls a "personal failure."
A spokesman for Cantor, Rory Cooper, says the majority leader believes that Republicans should hold themselves to a high moral standard and that McAllister's conduct doesn't meet that standard.
