Knowles receives regional bid

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - ULM’s Alison Knowles became the first female golfer at ULM to qualify for post-season play as she received an individual bid to compete in the 2014 NCAA Regional Championships.

Knowles had an outstanding regular season that included four tournament wins and four Sun Belt Golfer of the Month honors. Knowles was most recently named the Sun Belt Women’s Golfer of the Year.

One of just 378 participants chosen nationally, Knowles will compete in the West regional which will be played at the Tumble Creek Club in Cle Elum, Washington. She will join individuals from San Jose State, California State University- Northridge, UT-San Antonio, California State University-Fresno and BYU.

“I’m very excited to be heading to the Pacific Northwest and I know Alison will love the bent greens,” said head coach Stacy Snider, “She absolutely deserves to be playing against the best players in the country because she is one of them.”

Two teams and two individuals from each regional will advance to the NCAA championship finals.

The regional tournaments are scheduled to begin Thursday, May 8th.
