MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A monroe man has been arrested for Attempted Second Degree Murder, after a shooting earlier this month.

Monterrius Simpson, 19, was caught last night after Monroe Police got a Crime Stoppers tip with his location.

Simpson is accused of shooting a 12-year-old boy in the leg on April 7. Police say Simpson pulled a gun and shot several rounds in the parking lot of the Henrietta Johnson Community Center.

Witnesses say there was an argument inside the center leading up to the shooting, and the staff kicked several people out.

A 12-year-old boy was hit with one of the bullets that ricocheted, and was treated at the hospital.

Simpson is being held on $300,000 bond.
