Twin Cities famous family members make appearances

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A famous face, or beard, was as at the Downtown Rivermarket Saturday.

Uncle Si Robertson signed T-shirts to help raise money for Amanda McDanell, who suffers from spastic cerebral palsy.

Si also signed a shotgun that was raffled off and gave away a $500 shopping spree at the Duck Commander.

All proceeds are going to McDanell's medical expenses.

"The old house is just falling apart. She lost her physical therapy back in October. We just thought it would be great to raise money for her, to help her get some therapy and help remodel her home where she can get around," Wes Gold, event organizer said.

And over at Books- A-Million, other members of the famous Robertson clan were also signing autographs.

Lisa and Alan Robertson were promoting the family's children's book, “Everything is Better with a Beard.”

They were also signing, “The Wives of Duck Commander,” a book about the Robertson women.

"Everybody is kind of known for their beards except for me. So we just have a little fun with that. And the women's book, we are here to sign those as well, “The Wives of Duck Commander,” which just came out,” Alan said.

"Our book is just a little bit about behind the scenes of duck commander. Everybody always hears about the guys, but nobody knows about the women that are behind them. And you know behind every strong man is a strong woman. And we just wanted people to know a little about us, the struggles that we've had and hopefully we can encourage somebody along the way," Lisa said.

Lisa and Alan signed books from 9 a.m. until noon this morning.
