WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 NEWS)- The Ouachita Parish School Board approved placing the name of West Monroe legendary football coach Don Shows on the field house and a street that runs through the campus.

Coach Shows coached the Rebels from 1989 until his death last month. He won multiple state and national championships at the school.

The field at Rebel Stadium already holds his name, school board member Jerry Hicks believes Shows deserves more.

Superintendent Webber believes placing the name of the legendary coach on the buildings will teach the future generation of students about the past.

Hicks believes a lot of what West Monroe has accomplished is due to the former coach. He says the winning attitude the coach placed into players and students has brought recognition from all over the country.
