City leaders discuss auditor managerial notes

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- Mayor Jamie Mayo was joined by other city leaders in a press briefing, on the agenda the managerial issues noted in last year's report by the state auditor's office.

A second issue at one time the city's state government fund deficit was more than 300-grand.

Issue three, more than $16 thousand dollars was missing in unpaid rent from the company managing Forsythe Municipal Golf Course.

Mayo says a new contract was already in the works at the time of the audit.

Finally auditors noticed sign in sheets at the B.J. Washington Fitness Center had names of people paying $50 dollars to train for boxing. The $50 dollars was going to the US Boxing Federation...

Community Affairs Director John Ross confirms that there's currently no boxing training available at the center.

These were managerial notes to the audit, not findings. The audit actually didn't record any findings. It was the first time no findings were recorded during Mayo's tenure as mayor.
