Man killed while working under car

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A man is crushed and killed when the jack holding up the car he was working on slipped.

Monroe Police responded to a reported injured person at Justice Wrecker Service on Southern Avenue around 9:45 Monday morning.

Police say a man was working on a vehicle in the yard when the jack supporting the vehicle slipped and fell on top of him. The man was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The man was not an employee of the location and was working on his vehicle prior taking possession of the vehicle from the towing company. Notification of his family is underway.

Monroe Fire Department and AMR were also on the scene and handled the rescue. The investigation is ongoing.
