Mayo drops lawsuit against council members

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo has dropped his lawsuit filed against members of the city council.

The Mayor sued council members Eddie Clark, Betty Blakes, Ray Armstrong and Kenny Wilson after the council chose to vote on ordinances and a resolution regarding the I-20 Economic Development Board's closed door meeting's and the mayor's power related to the I-20 board.

Work by the I-20 Board was left at a standstill for several months because not enough members could be appointed to approve projects.

At a news conference Thursday, Mayo and his attorney asserted they would have won the case had it moved forward. But, in the best interests of the city, Mayo says it is best to move forward and work to resolve differences between the council and his administration.
