Hart alleges wife made up kidnap story

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A new development in the case against businessman Dean Hart Jr. Wednesday.

Hart Jr. has now filed suit against his soon-to-be-ex wife, Barbie Hart, claiming she made the whole thing up. Hart Jr. was the subject of an 11-hour standoff with police at his home in the Louisianne subdivision.  The standoff came after Barbie alleged Hart refused to let her leave the house from December 25th to December 30th of last year.

KNOE 8 News has received documents that may prove Barbie Hart was shopping at Target during the time she alleges Dean Hart Jr. kidnapped her.

Dean Hart Jr. alleges his soon-to-be ex-wife was not kidnapped, raped or assaulted as she claims. The suit claims Barbie and Dean Hart Jr. went to several local businesses during the time the alleged kidnapping took place.

Hart Jr. says the couple went to locations including; Target, Cascio's Tavern and Rawz Café. KNOE 8 News has obtained documents that show a check was written from Barbie Hart's account on December 29th at Target.

The check bounced, and both Target and Cross Keys Bank sent Barbie a letter notifying her of insufficient funds in her account.  KNOE 8 News has also obtained phone records from a phone owned by Dean Hart Construction, but was allegedly used by Barbie. The phone records show calls were made to multiple individuals during that time period, including several to her ex-husband, Doctor Michael Sullivan.

Dean Hart Jr. also claims Barbie was left alone on multiple occasions during the five day period leading up to his arrest. We reached out to the district attorney's office, but they refused to comment on the case.  Hart's case will go before a grand jury Thursday.
