Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Monroe City School Board has approved a bid for laying turf for three of its high schools.

At Tuesday night's meeting, the board approved a $5.4 million dollar bid for Hellas Construction to complete the project.  Drainage systems and other improvements will also be made for Neville, Wossman, and Carroll High Schools.

Monroe City Schools Superintendent Brent Vidrine says it's a project that will benefit not only students but the community.

The project is time-sensitive and must be completed by August, in time for football season.
