Runner prepares for this years Boston Marathon

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)-While many are in Boston for the ceremonies, locals here in Monroe that ran the marathon last year are remembering too.

Michael Anderson isn't only wearing his jacket from the race last year and a ribbon. Tuesday he was also watching the ceremonies from his office in Monroe.

Anderson crossed the finish line at the Boston Marathon about two hours before the explosion went off.

Luckily, he was in his hotel when the bombs detonated and says he'll never forgot the traumatic events of that day.

Anderson says this coming marathon will be a celebration.

"Its just getting back to normalcy. They are a very resilient city. They are strong they are Boston strong. I think as we move towards next Monday it will be a celebration of the strength of Boston, the strength of the runners, the strength of everyone in the state, and the country" says Anderson.

Anderson will leave Thursday to compete in this years marathon.
