MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Senator David Vitter avoided a one on one interview with KNOE 8 News on Wednesday at the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Luncheon.

KNOE 8 News reporter Hilary Hunt says that multiple news outlets were told by Vitter's aide that he did not have time for interviews.

Our reporter had plans to speak to Vitter about the ongoing Vance McAllister scandal.

David Vitter had been a part of his own scandal in 2007 when Hustler Magazine connected Vitter to the "D.C. Madame."  When encountered by the magazine, Vitter released a statement recognizing his sinful behavior and asked for forgiveness.

Last week, Governor Bobby Jindal called for Vance McAllister to resign saying his actions involving a congressional aide were an "embarrassment."

Other reports locally and nationally, have criticized Jindal saying that the same actions were not called for when Vitter was involved in a similar situation.

Vitter has not spoken publicly about the McAllister scandal.

Senator Vitter was in Monroe for a Congressional Update at the Monroe Civic Center hosted by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.  The senator, who is running for governor, is hosting a Town Hall Meeting in Bastrop at 3:30 PM.
