Heavy winds hit West Monroe causing damage

Posted: Updated:

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)-Entergy crews are hard at work and so are many homeowners in the area after a line of strong storms Monday afternoon.
     Some homes suffered extensive damage.
And several power-lines were downed off of Good Hope and Standard Reed Road in West Monroe.  Straight line winds upwards of 65 miles per hour ripped through just around noon.
Local law enforcement monitored the roads while Entergy is working to restore power to the neighborhood.
In some places chimneys were ripped off, trees downed and fences splintered.
Those in the storm's path say they took cover.

"For about 10 seconds it sound like a freight train kind of I thought we were having a tornado I stood in my hall way, it was about 20 seconds at least" says Stephen Bell.

A number of homes lost power during the severe storm but we're told all have been restored.
