Louisiana Congressmen begin to talk about McAllister

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Louisiana's congressmen are beginning to speak out in light of the McAllister kiss scandal.

Louisiana's 3rd District Representative Charles Boustany told KNOE 8 News in a statement, "Members of Congress are expected to abide by a very high standard of ethics and behavior. Congressman McAllister continues to face a serious situation that needs to be reviewed. He has to make some tough decisions not only affecting his family, but also the voters of the Fifth Congressional District of Louisiana."

Louisiana's 6th District Representative Bill Cassidy told KNOE 8 News that "its a personal matter between two families...respect (the) families' privacy."

2nd District Representative Cedric Richmond issued this statement to KNOE 8 News.  It said, "I know this is a difficult time for Vance, his Family, and his constituents. In his short time here in Washington Vance has shown the rare courage to work across the aisle to benefit the people of his district. I realize he must earn back their trust but if he does so, I am confident that he can emerge from this shortcoming a better man and a more devoted collaborator for the people of Louisiana."

4th District Representative John Fleming told KNOE 8 News "Things of this sort suggest that congressman are not being serious about there task certainly if you are embroiled in a scandal you don't have the time you don't have the availability to do your work and in fact for Congressman McAllister he hasn't been in Washington to vote on budgets. We actually had several budgets this week and he wasn't able to represent his district" says Fleming.

More statements are beginning to trickle in on Friday, and no statements have been made from McAllister's office.
