Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Fifth District Congressman Vance McAllister will formally request for an investigation Wednesday into who leaked a video of him kissing a woman on surveillance video.

Chief of Staff Adam Terry confirms that McAllister will reach out to the Justice Department and to the FBI to formally request an investigation.

KNOE 8 News was first to report that the FBI could be involved in the case, after KNOE 8 News talked with Bob Noel, a Monroe lawyer who said that the video could have violated wiretapping laws.

KNOE 8 News reached out to the FBI's New Orleans office earlier on Tuesday and was told that no investigation had begun.

ORIGINAL STORY:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Fifth District Congressman Vance McAllister tells KNOE 8 News that he could seek help from the FBI in figuring out who leaked a video of him kissing a congressional employee.

KNOE 8 News also has learned from multiple law sources that the leak of the video could contain "illegal communication issues."

KNOE 8 News found out this information and sent a text to McAllister, "Got an interview with a lawyer who said leak would be involved. Are you going to get FBI involved?"

McAllister told KNOE 8 News via text, that "if the parties do not admit it."

In trying to secure more comments from McAllister, he said, "No comment."

We contacted the FBI's Public Affairs Office in New Orleans.  Their representatives have said that they are unaware of any sort of investigation at this time.
