Escapee who abducted ex girlfriend and child captured

RAYVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Derrick Rose has been captured.  Authorities tell KNOE 8 News he was captured after 7 P.M., only a few blocks away from where he escaped custody.

RAYVILLE, La (KNOE 8 News) - Louisiana State Police PIO Albert Paxton says that they will be assisting with air support in the search for Derrick Rose.

RAYVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - KNOE has learned that Derrick Rose has escaped custody in Richland Parish.

Rose allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend and daughter from her Monroe home Friday morning. He was taken into custody in Richland Parish on McMillan Road. Richland Parish Sheriff Lee Harrell has confirmed that Rose has escaped.

Derrick Laron Rose, 29, is described as a black male, 6' tall, 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and red shorts. Rose is charged with one count of attempted 1st Degree Murder.

Rose escaped from RPSO criminal investigative division at approximately 4pm Friday and is considered dangerous.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The investigation into Friday's kidnapping continues in Richland Parish on McMillian Road.  

"The cell phone coordinates gave us an area out here so we had all of our units out here trying to locate the vehicle and they just drove up on it" says Richland Parish Sheriff Lee Harrell.

The victim managed to get the gun out of Rose's hand and was shot through the hand in the process.

The bullet hole in the car roof is what remains of that struggle.

Harrell says if the victim didn't wrestle the gun away from Rose, the outcome could have been a lot different.

"Again I believe that the victim her actions save her and her daughter life and the officers too" says Harrell.

UPDATE 11:20 AM: Sgt. Mark Johnson with Monroe Police tells KNOE the suspect is in custody and the victim has been injured, but both are in no further danger. No other details are available. Join KNOE 8 News at Noon for a Live report.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- Monroe Police need your help finding Derrick L. Rose. 

Investigation so far has revealed that Rose allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend, Becky Zeno around 7:45 Friday morning from her home on Blanks Street.

Rose is accused of abducting a 4 year old female that is the daughter of Rose and Zeno. Rose is believed to have fled the scene with Zeno and the child driving a white 2013 Ford Edge vehicle with La License XCE 023.

There have been past reports of domestic violence filed against Rose by Zeno. Rose is considered dangerous due to the past incidents and the alleged incident that occurred this morning. Anyone with information about the above incident or the whereabouts of Zeno, Rose, or the child is urged to contact the Monroe Police Department immediately at 318.329.2600 or Crimestoppers at 318.388. 2274 (CASH).

Police say two black males entered the store, located at 4320 Desaird Street, around 3:15 Friday morning. They say the suspects robbed the store at gun point and police were able to able to get a photo of one suspect. That suspect is described as a younger black male over six feet and it appears he is wearing a Neville sweatshirt. He is considered armed and dangerous.
