LDCC Bastrop students speak out on the delayed Nursing Program

Posted: Updated:

BASTROP, La. (KNOE 8 News)- Students at the Louisiana Delta Community College Bastrop campus are speaking out.

Classes were supposed to begin in January, but class enrollment for new students was too low.

The college pushed the practical nursing program to May.

Now students say they're being told classes in Bastrop for new students will not start until January 2015.

Students have been told they can take classes at other area campuses but for many that is not possible.

Classes for new students came to a halt in January, classes for existing students continue.
However, if current students in the program fail and have to start over they'll be forced to do it somewhere other than the Bastrop campus.

Vice Chancellor Mixon is encouraging students who plan to wait until classes start back up to take advantage of other classes.

Practical nursing programs are also offered at the Lake Providence, Ruston, West Monroe, and Winnsboro Campuses.
