MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - After a week of suspense to determine the top toque in the race for FOOD & WINE "People's Best New Chef" Gulf Coast, the results are in... and thanks to unwaivering support of the his community, friends, and the Robertsons of Ducky Dynasty fame, chef Cory Bahr of Restaurant Cotton and Nonna has brought the much-deserved title to Monroe, Louisiana!

This incredible recognition follows the call from FOOD & WINE inviting the dining public to determine the winner from a line up of selected up-and-coming innovators in the kitchen. The young and vibrant pioneering talent of chef Cory Bahr and his North Delta cuisine is now bringing focus to this American subculture of Louisiana.

Bahr stated "People ask me why I haven't moved somewhere else…this is the reason. My community has continually supported me and lifted me up." He continued "This validates that there is good food in Louisiana outside New Orleans."

A forerunner in culinary trends, Bahr is also a 2012 Food Network's Chopped! Champion, 2011 King of Louisiana Seafood, and a "Chef to Watch" by Louisiana Cookin' Magazine.

Cory was in great company among the field of nominees that included acclaimed chefs from New Orleans, Alabama, Florida, and Puerto Rico.

Bahr is one of the people's top 10 chefs in America, bar-none!
