UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Union Parish man is accused of stabbing and slicing a woman's throat during an armed robbery.

Kendrick Wright, 27, of 576 Randolph Rd., Lillie, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery. Sheriff Dusty Gates says Wright surrendered at the sheriff's office Tuesday morning after warrants were issued for his arrest.

The sheriff says the victim received life-threatening injuries when she was attacked in the early morning hours Friday. The victim was sleeping in her car in front of her house on South Pine Street in Junction City. Her home had burned several days before the incident, Gates said.

She was taken to South Arkansas Medical Center in El Dorado where she underwent emergency surgery. Gates says she has been released from the hospital.

Detectives working the case reported the victim was able to identify Wright because at one time he had raked her yard. They said the suspect made off with $150 in cash.
