Monroe Police investigating armed robbery

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday night at the Kingsway Apartments.

Police responded the call at 11:00 PM at the complex located on Elm Street.

The investigation showed that two females were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot when they were approached by two black males on foot.

One of the subjects demanded a cell phone from the victims and produced a handgun.

The victims threw the handgun out of the window which was retrieved by the suspects who fled the area on foot. Prior to fleeing the area, the suspect fired one shot in the air for unknown reasons.

No one was injured during this incident.

Suspect #1 is described as a black male, 5'10", slim build, with a dark complexion. Suspect #2 is described as a black male, 5'05", slim, with a dark complexion.

Both were described as being 18-20 years old and wearing dark clothing and "hoodie" type clothing.
