Anne Frank exhibit to premier at Lincoln Parish Library

RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Anne Frank Center USA and the Lincoln Parish Library is pleased to announce the North American premiere of the newest exhibit from the Anne Frank Center in Amsterdam, "Reading and Writing with Anne Frank" on Thursday, April 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the Library Events Center. This exhibit, which tells Anne Frank's life story, has specifically been designed for children and teenagers but all ages are encouraged to visit the exhibit. Special attention has been paid to the diary of Anne Frank, but her storybook and beautiful sentence book are included too.

Upon visiting the exhibit, the public will learn about the Frank family, get to know Anne Frank as a writer, learn what books Anne read that were smuggled into the secret Annex, and be encouraged to write creatively like Anne by using various creative exercises.

Lesson plans and materials are available for teachers and a special teacher training will be held on Thursday, April 3rd from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Library Events Center. Hilary Stipelman, Director of Outreach and Exhibitions at the Anne Frank Center USA will conduct a specialized training for teachers that will showcase how the themes of the exhibit can be used in classroom instruction in conjunction with common core standards. Volunteers are being sought to serve as docents for the exhibit. Docents are invited to attend docent training on Friday, April 4 from 9:00AM-1:00PM in the Library Events Center. Interested volunteers should register by contacting Emily Arnold at 513-5544. Volunteers will be needed during daytime hours during the week and some on weekends. If anyone can help out at any time or can only help at select times and dates, they are encouraged to register for the docent training.
