Public meeting set on Alexandria tax measure

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - A 6-mill property tax proposed by the city of Alexandria to pay for operations at the city zoo and for recreation programs will be discussed during a public meeting on Thursday at Alexandria Senior High School.

If city voters pass the tax proposal on May 3, the revenue generated by it will be split between the Alexandria Zoological Park and various cultural, parks and recreation programming, operations and staffing.
