Tallulah remembers Mayor Eddie Beckwith

TALLULAH, La. (KNOE 8 News)- The town of Tallulah was saying good bye to Mayor Eddie Beckwith, he served as their mayor for the last 8 years.

With standing room only in the packed auditorium, the Beckwith family says they want people to remember their uncle Eddie not just as the mayor but a man who loved to serve.

Mayor Beckwith was running for his third term in office when died his nephew John Beckwith Jr says this is his victory party.

Mayor Beckwith's supporters will remember a lot of things about their fallen leader, especially his bravery to continue to fight for his country and cancer while still serving the community to the best of his ability.

Mayor Beckwith was said to have made many impressions on people with his get it done attitude.

State leaders like Attorney General Buddy Caldwell and Sen. Frances Thompson agree that he lived and died serving his community.

"I'm going to miss him he was a hard working dedicated individual I had a lot of respect and love for him," Frances said.
A procession will roll through Tallulah on the morning of Apr. 2. beginning at 7:35. 

Mayor Beckwith will be buried at the Natchez national cemetery.
