BIg changes approved for Morehouse Parish Schools

Posted: Updated:

BASTROP, La. (KNOE 8 News) - On Tuesday a fourth and final plan was presented by Morehouse Parish Superintendent George Noflin and voted in by the School Board.

The plan consists of five phases to save the school district over $4 million.

They include closing Southside Elementary School, consolidating and creating feeder schools, making the school week four days, and revising job descriptions.

The news left dozens of people like Southside Elementary Principal Sharette Flynn upset and left with an uncertain future.

"It just happened so suddenly and we don't feel like we had the opportunity to voice our concerns and we are just disheartened by it" says Flynn.

These changes will not go effect until the 2014-2015 school year.
