FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Farmerville man who evaded arrest Saturday morning after being stopped by Union Parish Sheriff's Deputies turned himself in Monday saying his wife needed her car back.

25-year-old Quendarium Demeante Gales was booked into the parish detention center. He is charged with resisting an officer by flight, driving under suspension for a DWI and improper backing. His bond was set at $1,750.

Deputies reportedly saw Gales vehicle going in reverse down Railroad Street. When they pulled their patrol unit out onto the street the car accelerated forward and made a right on Rabun Street.

The patrol unit's emergency lights were activated at which time Gales pulled into a driveway, exited the vehicle and ran off, Sheriff Dusty Gates said.

Gates said other deputies and Farmerville police joined in the hunt, but were unable to locate the suspect. The deputies impounded the vehicle and Gales told deputies Monday that his wife needed her car back.
