West Monroe High to host powerlifting championship

BATON ROUGE, LA (KNOE 8 News) — The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) along with the Louisiana High School Powerlifting Association (LHSPA) announced that West Monroe High School in West Monroe, La. will host the 2014 state powerlifting championships March 20 – 22, 2014.

"The LHSAA is excited to work with the LHSPA and the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau to once again bring the 2014 state powerlifting meet to West Monroe," said LHSAA Executive Director Kenny Henderson. "West Monroe High School and the cities of Monroe and West Monroe have always been great hosts four our events and have welcomed our student-athletes, family and fans with open arms."

"We are privileged to be selected again as the host city for the LHSAA/LHSPA 2014 State Powerlifting Meet," said Scott Bruscato, director of convention sales and sports marketing for the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau.  "West Monroe High School will be the host site for this event."

According to Bruscato, "We appreciate their administrators, coaches and volunteers for accepting this enormous undertaking.  Monroe-West Monroe takes great pride in hosting amateur sports, and we want to thank the LHSAA staff and its executive committee for entrusting us to provide a great championship atmosphere for the powerlifting competitors, coaches, friends and family."
