Alexandria budget includes pay raises

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - City of Alexandria employees could receive a raise for the first time in five years under the budget submitted by Mayor Jacques Roy.

The budget contains a 3 percent pay raise for most city employees. Employees have not received a pay raise since fiscal year 2009-10, though they did receive a $2,500 one-time pay supplement last year.

The 3 percent raise will cost the city about $1.1 million next fiscal year, close to the cost of the $2,500 pay supplement this year.

Outside of the proposed raises, the 2014-15 budget looks much like this year's budget.
