School bus involved in head on collision

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A OMCAP Head Start bus carrying 6 children has been involved in a head on collision.  

The bus traveling to school on Bon Aire Drive in Monroe was hit by a Chrysler 300.  Monroe Police say the Chrysler crossed the center line and struck the bus.

The bus came to rest in a ditch and the passenger car stayed on the roadway. All of the occupants of the bus were transported to local treatment centers as a precautionary measure and no injuries are reported regarding the children or driver.

The adult aide on the bus has been found to have a dislocated shoulder and is being treated.

The 17 year old driver of the passenger car was pinned in the vehicle and had to extricated by Monroe Fire.  The driver is being treated for two broken legs. 

The driver of Chrysler 300 will be held at fault according to police officials.
