Cleaning Company Wins WOW! Award for an Act of Charity

The Maids Franchise located in the Northern Cincinnati has been recognized for its amazing customer service.

The Maids of Butler and Warren Counties, which is located in West Chester, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati, has recently been recognized with a WOW! Award for its effort to help a person in need.

Founded in 1997 by Derek Williams, the WOW! Awards strive to recognize businesses and organizations that aim to provide outstanding customer service for their clients. In order to become a contender of the award, a business has to be nominated by its customer. For The Maids of Warren and Butler Counties, it was April Cornwell of West Chester, Ohio who took the step to recognize the company that helped her during a trying time for her and her family.

“April, who occupied the residence with her elderly mother Nancy and two younger boys, Isaiah, 6, and Noah, 8, contacted me to make a present for her mom, “ said Pam Markland, the owner of the franchise. “April warned me that she was on a fixed income and could only afford so much. I assured her that my team would be able to cover a ton of ground.”

According to Markland, the home had been infested with mice and needed the immediate attention of a professional cleaning service. After cleaning the house, Markland decided to donate her time and return to the house to finish what had been started.

“As I left April after the first clean, I felt so warm inside, so I called my team and asked them to volunteer with me,” Markland admitted. “I was absolutely flattered that my entire team of employees said yes.”

Markland’s shout out touched the hearts of the local community and the franchise was able to collect more donations, such as gently used clothes and toys for the boys. Moreover, the Sharonville VFW adopted the family.

“It was truly a Christmas miracle for us,” said Cornwell. “Our local community is blessed to have such a business that does truly care about its customers.”

Police say two black males entered the store, located at 4320 Desaird Street, around 3:15 Friday morning. They say the suspects robbed the store at gun point and police were able to able to get a photo of one suspect. That suspect is described as a younger black male over six feet and it appears he is wearing a Neville sweatshirt. He is considered armed and dangerous.
