LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - The Little Rock School District says it's investigating after an "inappropriate photo" on a teacher's cell phone was transmitted onto iPads being used by students.

District spokeswoman Pamela Smith says the incident occurred March 5 at Forest Heights Middle School. Smith says that the teacher is not currently in the classroom as the investigation continues.

According to the district, the inappropriate photo appeared on eight students' iPads after it was transmitted through a photo stream from the teacher's personal cellphone. The district has not released the teacher's name or described the inappropriate nature of the photo.

In a statement sent home to parents, the teacher apologized for the incident and said the photo was never intended to be viewed by anyone at the school.
