HOUMA, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Houma police are investigating several cases of counterfeit money being used at local businesses, the latest of which occurred Tuesday at a hardware store.

Employees at Davidson's Hardware said this was the second time a customer has tried using fake money at their store in the past several weeks.

General Manager Cory Hatton tells The Courier the store has become more vigilant about recognizing fake bills.

When an unidentified man tried to pay for goods at the store Tuesday afternoon with counterfeit $10 and $20 bills, Hatton says employees were ready.

So far only one arrest has been made in the eight cases being investigated by the department.
